Coursereport: Potterymaking
This post is a bit postponed from the actual event, but nevertheless ^^
So the topic of our event was pottery making technicues and that we did!
People crafted what ever they wanted, mostly small decorations.
Only, no actual clay but this “practice” clay called “Air drying modeling material” brand: Darwi.
Mass was a bit tricky as it dried quite quickly so you had to moisten your fingers feverously. Ok, maybe i exaggerate a bit..Here you can see few pictures from our attendees making and sometimes breaking. The mass was delicate and as it dried, it broke down quite easily. We got some instructions to paint the ready products afterwards and also add some coating for reinforcing.
Finally the works could be put to dry for hours and hours. It has now been two weeks since the making day so I guess they are dry 🙂
The instruction in the package said that this mass should dry for 24h per cm. So if you are in a hurry and want to know the excact time, count the centimeters when cutting the piece from the block.Good times!
