Fixing a lateral acceleration sensor
In VAG cars (VW/Audi/Seat) there is a lateral acceleration sensor to deal with the stabilization control of the car. Problem with the sensor is it tends to get loose from the board and cause intermittent failures in system. The sensor itself is a pretty tiny chip on a pretty tiny circuit board sunk in enclosure filled with black waterproofing medium. The fix is pretty simple – just solder the chip back onto the board but the real work is in getting that far as it takes some hour or two to dig out the waterproofing without damaging the circuit board.
The fault code is g200 – lateral acceleration sensor and also the ESP/whatever signal light stays on.

It can be done. It takes some time an patience and the eBay option of buying a new one for $50 is OK deal after you have figured out how much work it is to get the board in your hands to fix it.
